This project involves a number of parallel planning efforts, including:
- work with the three local First Nations communities;
- the development of an Agricultural Plan and Strategy;
- the development of a Community Energy and Emissions Plan;
- and the development of a Master Transportation Plan.
Planning with our First Nations Partners
The SOCP is being created through consultation with the local First Nation communities – the Wei Wai Kum of the Campbell River Indian Band, the We Wai Kai of the Cape Mudge Indian Band, and the Homalco First Nation.
Related to this work, the City of Campbell River is collaborating with these three communities on a “Planning and Governance Strategy” to define opportunities and agreed-upon approaches to plan collaboratively, and implement joint decision making processes where possible on matters relating to land use, economic development and infrastructure, and more.
NEW! The City of Campbell River, Wei Wai Kum, We Wai Kai and Homalco Nations invite youth Artists from each community to submit works on the theme PARTNERSHIP for consideration for inclusion and display in the jointly developed “Governance and Planning Partnership Strategy” and static displays. Deadline for art submissions is 4:30pm on September 30, 2011. Click here for more information about the competition, including eligibility and selection criteria.
